10 things to help you discover Prague in a different way!

Three times to Prague and still cannot get enough! Prague is popular among tourist and to give extra tips, something you cannot find elsewhere is very hard. Regardless, I am pushing my luck and will present a 10 things-list you ought to do while in the beautiful capital city of Czech Republic, because I am convinced you won’t be pleased to see the town only once, from the moment you are there for the first time. It is a city of culture, wonder, food and great beer. Endless surprises and endless opportunities to take in consideration. Quite expensive, though, but… as a tourist, believe me, it is worth all the money you can spend!

1. A bath in beer at Beer Spa Bernard

Don’t imagine that they will just pour beer in the tub and you will bath just so. No, it will be a big bowl of herbs, used to brew beer and altogether some hot or warm water it will make the best of it. The price for one hour, two persons, is not neglectable, more than 100 EUR, but you have unlimited Bernard Beer and also get a diploma and two special beer bottles at the end. Oh, and you have full privacy, the atmosphere is sublime and, yah, there is jacuzzi too! Considering this is exactly in the city center, it is the type of experience you don’t want to loose.

2. Run the Prague Marathon!

It can be brutal, so this is why didn’t start with it. But, honestly speaking, this was the main reason for my third trip to Prague and it was an event I was waiting for two years, it was twice postponed because of the pandemic. Running a full marathon is literally not for everybody, but if you want to experience a great city big run, then the Czech capital is the perfect place. You will approach it differently, better.

3. Accommodate on a boat hotel

The idea came up unexpectedly, but was the best. I mean to sit in a boat, sleep in a boat, and to see the Vltava river once you wake up, it is not something you do on a regular basis. The accommodation price was not extraordinary high – even though, I am warning you once more, Prague is an expensive town! – but it was very cozy and the personnel was very kind and prompt. What specific location I recommend? This is it: Botel Matylda.

4. Try culinary traditions at Svejk Restaurants

If you read quality literature, than the “Good soldier Svejk” might ring a bel. It is written by Jaroslav Hasek and it is really a masterpiece in Czech Republic. Given these circumstances, you can find all over the capital city, Prague, restaurants from a big chain with the symbol of the soldier and also with his name, Svejk. They are really attractive, in terms of marketing and I can conclude the food is also delicious. The beer, well, we just don’t need to mention it here, as we have some room later on.

5. Go to the Beer Museum from Prague’s center

As I was saying, there is also a lot of room for beer in the Czech Republic. The biggest consumers in the world, the Czechs, happen – by accident :))) – the best beer in the world. There are great brands, great flavors, you just cannot get enough. In the entrance ticket, you will get the chance to taste four types of fine beer and at a 200 ml portion, you won’t be leaving the museum, of course, after seeing also the might beer history from Czech Republic and around the world, without, let’s say, daydreaming… Check it out: Czech Beer Museum.

6. Have a walk on Nusle Bridge

… but not after visiting the Czech Beer Museum, or even the beer spa. I am partly joking, but mostly serious. You need to be sober when you cross this majestic urban structure, 42.5 meters high on average. It impressed me how imposing this can be. It is not, perhaps, a conventional bridge to visit and explore, like Charlie, but it is sure do something you need to try out in order to have your own opinion about.

7. Kafka statue from… the mall

Kafka is one of the most important figures in the whole Czech cultural life so his presence in Prague, in many places, his print basically, should not be a surprise to anybody. Regarding this, I am recommending one particular statue of the great writer and thinker, because it is anything but conventional. Built in 2014, near a mall, costing 1.3 million dollars, this is really a masterpiece of modern art. For more details check Kafka’s rotating head.

8. Take a walk on the Vltava river shore by night

It might be nice to go on a boat trip on Vltava, also to have endless walks and photo sessions on the famous bridges, starting with Charlie, but few are recommending a long (romantic) walk on the shore of the Vltava river, that crosses one of the most beautiful cities in the world. If you go alone, with friends, or your loved one, the experience can be slightly different, but in any way it remains great. Oh, yes, and by night it is even better, when you see how the sun light sinks into the water. Sublime!

9. Eat at Forky’s

If I would recommend quickly a specific location in Prague where you can eat, well, that is for sure Forky’s. One thing I need to mention is that it is a vegan restaurant-bistro, but the food is so good that you can rely on the options there even though you are not necessary a vegan. The tastes are really wonderful and I bet you will return several times, even years apart – as I did in 2022, after going there in 2020. Aaaand, in the second occasion I wasn’t alone and so did she enjoyed the food.

10. Explore the city, its legends and its wonderful structures

OK, cannot speak about Prague and remind you briefly that you should check the clock, the St. Vitus Cathedral – alongside the castle, the Metronome (Stalin), all the bridges, the city center itself, all the monuments combined. I have expanded your horizon in terms of what to visit in Prague, but the main objectives should remain also on the top of your list. After all, who goes to Prague and not take a picture in front of St. Vitus Cathedral or on Karluv Most? 🙂 Especially if, before this, ate one – or more! 😀 – traditional filled trdelnik?!
